Just Updates

5 05 2008

I have long been planning to change my banner. However, the last one I made didn’t seem to appeal the graphic forum I have attended and prefer the current banner I have. Anyway, I have been working on my new banner. Not really me, more like James has been working on with my new banner. He basically did 80% of this all. The remaining 20% is all me. Marvel at the beautiful watermark I’ve created… *LOL* Honestly, I suck at vector so much that’s why I had James made me one. He has this artistic gift he loves to boast about and at another lifetime he must’ve been a painting virtuoso of some sort. Anyway, here is my work-in-progress banner. Tell me what you think, okay? Be honest, be brutal, James will take it lightly… :)

This is far from finished and we will be working on it more. However between the two concepts, which do you like best?

For my second update, after this, I’m off to bed. James, finally got hooked with blogging. He is more interested in monetizing his blog though. He just officially started yesterday. He hasn’t really set up, set up, his blog yet since he still has some questions that I need to answer. I would still have to show him around wordpress. Anyway if you want to drop by his blog and say a quick “hi” and some words of encouragement perhaps, his link is here: elmasahe.wordpress.com

Save The Honey Bees

25 04 2008

This is another Psyop project for Hagen Daaz. This 30 second spot is a compact tale of unrequited love of a bee and a flower set with an operatic soundtrack that only adds drama to the ever glamorously made 3d animation. I kinda wish this was a :60 instead of a :30 spot, though. The voiceover at the near end sounded like I’m late for a business meeting so quickly give me back my change.

“Imagine the world without tasty pears, luscious raspberries and juicy strawberries. Honey bees are responsible for the one-third of all the foods we eat, including the many ingredients that define our all-natural favorite ice-creams. “

Let’s help save the Honey bees dear readers! Since I’m not a beekeeper nor are you, let’s get educated on how, in our own ways, how to help save the honeybees. Let’s spread the word .

Architectural Rendering

16 04 2008

I have been very busy lately which is why I haven’t had time to post or nurture my blogging fixation. Anyway, I got some little time to spare now. :)

Since Maurisyo has been hired to work for LazyAnimation, he has been very busy tinkering his new nifty computer and has been sending me architectural rendering samples almost everyday. I guess one of the reasons why I’m posting his work on my blog, aside from sheer natural bias, is that his recent designs are very refreshing. It’s very minimal, yet highly stylish. He is breaking away from two things in my opinion. First, he is breaking away from the usual Filipino architectural designs. Although you can already see a lot of modern buildings in Cebu, especially in Manila, but compare it to other countries, Philippine architecture is just so behind. Second, he is slowly breaking away from Medallaaj. Alex Medallaaj is a known Cebuano Architect and I must say I love his designs; although I’m not his avid fan but James would often point Medallaaj’s works and they generally pass my taste. Back to James. Medallaaj is one of his mentor and many of his designs before were like Medallaaj’s very own however lately you can only see traces of Medallaaj’s unwavering influence over a student and a fan.

Below are a few of his architectural design and rendering.

Procrastination

10 04 2008

Procrastination is creating a fire escape plan“, this is by far my favorite line for the year 2008. “Procrastination is avoiding doing something. Procrastination is being not able to get started. “

This post is Inspired by this video by Johnny Kelly which won the” Jerwood Moving Image Awards“.

Would you agree that one way or another we love to procrastinate? I know, I do. Although I’m taking some very noble steps to help me eliminate this addicting behavior, old habit is just so hard to break. How do you procrastinate? Or more likely, how do you define procrastination?

  • Procrastination is playing with my dogs. It is hugging and kissing them.
  • Procrastination is watching Grey’s Anatomy over and over again. It is memorizing and mimicking their lines.
  • Procrastination is writing in this blog when in fact I have TONS of writing to do.

Procrastination is avoiding the inevitable.”  ~ This is so true.

LazyAnimation Gets Revamped

1 02 2008

LazyAnimation, a Scandinavian 3d company recently revamped its site’s lay-out to a much lighter shade of gray. Officially released this week, the new and improved LazyAnimation displays a slide-show presentation of what they can do and showcasing it’s, now, strongest suite which is 3d architectural rendering.

Primarily known for it’s character animation services, LazyAnimation repositioned itself, now offering  3d architectural rendering and modeling services mostly to the Scandinavian Market. “If an architect in Denmark wants to have his design modeled and rendered, it would cost him roughly about 5.000 DKK” Jane Kirk, CEO of LazyAnimation, explained.

LazyAnimation has it’s main office in Copenhagen Denmark while the production is in the Philippines. “The Philippines has always been my number one choice for graphics and now for my architectural renderings”, Jane said. She also added that not only can LazyAnimation provide photo realistic architectural renderings but they can also do it in “a much, much, much” lower cost.

The studio is powered by high-end graphic cards from NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX, with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.46 hz/ 4m6L2) processor, a 4GB Memory for multi-tasking, an Asus LG775 Chipset and a 640 GB Hard drive in RAID 0 for a fast file transfer and data capacity.

Although LazyAnimation is directing most of its marketing to its architectural rendering service, LazyAnimation still has several 3d magic up it’s sleeve such as  character animation; product modeling and animation; and logo animation.

LazyAnimation is a sister company of LazyMask, a clipping path service provider, and LazyMovie, a rotoscoping and chroma keying VFX facility.
