The “F” Word

23 05 2008

I personally don’t mind cuss words. However I do find it rude and appropriate inappropriate when you use such words to other people, especially on your colleagues.

Early this morning, when I arrived in the office I was surprised to see this bond paper with some chicken handwriting on it. Basically it was reprimanding us to don’t forget to turn off the aircon before going home. The concern was noble and fairly correct however the approach is wrong. Telling employees to turn off the F***ING aircon and use the F***KING remote is a gesture of profanity and an apparent lack of management finesse.

Reasoning that this is just you when mad is not an excuse. Don’t expect everyone to follow your terms without any objective basis because in business, business is business. There is a thin line, I guess, between business and personal life and pseudo-business people should start using it.

The effect of a cuss word when directed at employees can be demoralizing at some point. You are no longer correcting the action you are already bawdily berating. Trying to assert that you are this person that way, is embarrassing for your part and, in the long run, you don’t earn the respect of everyone.

Her and His Story

16 05 2008

Some would call this just sappy and some would call this labor of love. James and I recently started our very own blog about our random banters on relationships, on love and on each other. This is the first time ever, I shared an online presence with a man and it’s a huge step for me *grin*. It’s a he said, she said blog that we hope would shed some light for new couples and just plainly humor the in love and the love forlorn. This will be your online “teleserye” folks, although a not so Filipino melodramatic love story but nonetheless there will be drama.

Please visit our blog using this link: http://herandhistory.blogspot.com

PS. James and I are really interested in exchanging links with fellow bloggers who share one blog with their sweetheart or a blog that talks mainly about their relationship. Didn’t I mention it here before that I can get cheesy… Super cheesy that sometimes I have the kick myself back to reality… ;)

I am Officialy 23!

8 05 2008

Yesterday, I officially turned 23. Another year and potentially another wrinkle (at least that’s the birthday greeting that my sister gave me via friendster), or not… ;)

I was touched with the surprise my officemates gave me. I felt that there was some connivance going on when I found the front door locked when I arrived at the office yesterday. Upon entering our department, all my officemates were inside with this huge moist chocolate cake for me. I couldn’t really scream with so much appreciation but I was touched. I really didn’t expect any surprise coming from them. To the Mandaue guys, thank you so much… You surely made my day.

My birthday was actually pretty good. I am very blessed to have these people in my life… :) A simple greeting from people whom I didn’t deem would remember my day really brought a smile to my face. The entire day, I had this funny grin plastered across my stressed-out face. Yesterday, just felt purely good and I don’t usually feel that way. In a way I came to realize that I am filled with so much blessings that I need to recognize this more often and not take it for granted.

The best present I got for my birthday was from James. He edit my face in Photoshop and added a really beautiful effect. He copied all the contents in this blog and pasted the words in the image. A posterized outline of my face with embedded words created by my own hands. Michelle, definitely got jealous. *LOL* Peace teng.. :)

When I get the soft copy of James’ gift, I will post it here. But for now, I will have to end this post with this cliché, “Live life, enjoy life cause life is beautiful”.

Just Updates

5 05 2008

I have long been planning to change my banner. However, the last one I made didn’t seem to appeal the graphic forum I have attended and prefer the current banner I have. Anyway, I have been working on my new banner. Not really me, more like James has been working on with my new banner. He basically did 80% of this all. The remaining 20% is all me. Marvel at the beautiful watermark I’ve created… *LOL* Honestly, I suck at vector so much that’s why I had James made me one. He has this artistic gift he loves to boast about and at another lifetime he must’ve been a painting virtuoso of some sort. Anyway, here is my work-in-progress banner. Tell me what you think, okay? Be honest, be brutal, James will take it lightly… :)

This is far from finished and we will be working on it more. However between the two concepts, which do you like best?

For my second update, after this, I’m off to bed. James, finally got hooked with blogging. He is more interested in monetizing his blog though. He just officially started yesterday. He hasn’t really set up, set up, his blog yet since he still has some questions that I need to answer. I would still have to show him around wordpress. Anyway if you want to drop by his blog and say a quick “hi” and some words of encouragement perhaps, his link is here: elmasahe.wordpress.com

Awwww… This is cute and sad all at the same time… The “capshun” (caption) matched with the bear’s expression makes the picture utterly cute and painful. “Give him the his blanky back, mr. mean man!”
