My own domain?

13 06 2008

I have been thinking. I was actually inspired by dirtylaundrydiva, she recently move to her very own domain. Good for her; I am just loving her blog bling-bling and all. So I have been thinking of getting one of my own. I enjoy blogging so much, let me rephrase it, I am addicted to blogging. There are a lot of perks when you have your own domain if you don’t mind that you’d be paying for it.

I have read 12 reasons why I should opt blogging with my own domain. What do you think about this?

I have been seriously contemplating on this and I have below my pro-con list.

Here is my Pro list

  1. I can add as much plug-ins
  2. I can customize my themes as much as I want to. I have this girly and cutesy theme planned out… *super huge grin*
  3. My URL is fairly shorter compared to my current URL
  4. Honestly, I would like to earn some passive income out of this addiction
  5. I can tweak the codes (I will try and learn some decent web development from now on)

My Con list on the other hand.

  1. I will be shelling out some cash
  2. I will have to start all over again but then this is not much of a problem. Patience is a virtue.
  3. I have no basic knowledge on HTML or something, so maintaining my own website can be such a challenge at a certain point

Basically that’s all I can think of as of now. I am really seriously considering this. James thinks its a great idea that I move to a more permanent online home. Can you help a friend out and tell me should I move or should I just stay?

Just Updates and my Uprising Dislike for Telemarketing

11 06 2008

Last Monday, I just came back from my Bantayan escapade. I am going to post some of the pictures here soon. The beach wasn’t the beautiful if you compared it during summer but then again compared to the nearby beaches in Northen cebu, Sta. Fe Bantayan is still a beauty. There were several jelly fish swimming along the coast due to the Habagat season. During the months of November to May, you won’t find these sea critters in Bantayan. So the obvious tip is, go to Bantayan during their peak season. Don’t mind the increase in price since it will all be worth it.

The trip didn’t really rejuvenated my mind as I thought it would. I was hoping I could extend my vacation a bit longer. :) However at least I got to relax a bit and changed my pace for 2 days. Like I said, work is piling up and I am up and about tackling these chores now.

Stress is looming over my head since for this week it is our turn to do telemarketing. The good thing about telemarketing is that I get to practice my sexy telephone voice and finally use some of my oral English speaking skills.

The worst thing about telemarketing is when you are rejected. “No not interested!”. Those are one hurtful words. To add insult to injury, some people would rudely answer you and talk gibberish on the phone as if he has lost his sense of comprehension. But on the other side of it, I get what their feeling. They are busy people just like me and receiving a sales call from a nobody can certainly irk you at some point.

I always say to myself that this is nothing personal, only business. If I irritated somebody because I happened to call them then I can’t do anything about it. This is only business after all.

This busy bee will relax a bit this weekend

6 06 2008

This weekend I will finally set my feet on those white sandy shores of Bantayan. Together with James, we will enjoy our 3 days and 2 nights at the Kota beach resort.

If you guys happen to visit Philippines, Bantayan is a not-so- secret paradise located just at the northwest tip of Cebu. Unlike the famous tourist destination spot, Boracay, Bantayan offers the same only at a lower price. Bantayan has been quoted as a poor man’s Boracay nevertheless you will enjoy the white sand beaches, turquoise water and fresh air.

I have been to Bantayan twice already and this coming weekend will be my third. This time I be enjoying a more relaxing escapade unlike my first Bantayan experience wherein we were roughing it out by pitching some tent at the beach front and sleeping in some sleeping bag.

This time we will have our accommodation at the Kota Beach Resort. Out of all of the resorts we were calling out yesterday, Kota was the only one that fit our tight budget that still has some available rooms.

I can’t wait for tomorrow. At last I will get my chance to relax and get a away from my piling work load. I have been very busy lately, you can tell through my sporadic blog postings. And if you are like me, a one busy bee, give yourself a time off to recharge those creative juices. If you are planning to go to Bantayan in the near future, I have here below some contact numbers you can use.

Resorts in Bantayan:

Tickety Boo Beach Resort - mobile: +63-920-749-0743 Landline: +63-32-438-9105

My Friend Michelle stayed here during her last Bantayan escape, she said the beach here isn’t as great as the one in sugar beach but the accommodation is okay.

Kota Beach - Landline: +63-032-419-6135 & 032-438-9042

James has been here and the beach at this area is stunning. They have very reasonable accommodation rates ranging from Php 770 to Php 2000. The picture you see, is Kota beach resort. Gorgeous isn’t it. I will be here come this weekend. :)

Budyong Beach - Landline: +63-032-438-5700

This is also a good resort. Very affordable accommodation and a great sand bar if I might add.

Sugar Beach - Mobile +639217755058

Very cheap accommodation. Their facilities are not that great but the beach sure is beautiful. They don’t have a restaurant for you to dine but their friendly staff can cook for you. It is a quaint mixture of relaxation and roughing it out a bit.

Hoyohoy Villas - Landline: +63-32-416-905 & +63-32-438-9223 Mobile: +63-917-346-1068

Now, this is a class A resort. The architecture is unique since the cottages are inspired from a rice granary concept which brings out an elegant tasteful designed villas nesting on a beautiful property.

Some other resorts we have listed and called out yesterday.

Santa Fe Beach Club - +63-032-438-9090 (fax) & 438-9107 land line & Mobile: +63-918-919-9101

St. Bernard Beach Resort - mobile: +63-917-963-6162

Tristans Beach Resort - Landline: +63 32 438-9041 & mobile: +63919-537-1536

I will soon post my Bantayan pictures and yeah about the tutorial, it is on the way. Things are a bit hectic with my freelance.

Preoccupied

31 05 2008

This week has been like a marathon for me. The office has been stressful since we have started out with telemarketing this week. I’ve got to say that cold calling is not for me. Telemarketing is not the only thing I’m dealing. The things I juggle at the office vary between office politics, link whoring and writing. After work is not an option for relaxation as well since I still have a freelance writing job to comply with. Yep, I am overly preoccupied. Sometimes I get downright dizzy but most of the time I am just out of focused.

I rarely have some me time and I just realized that I have been missing out a lot lately. I miss reading good books and DVD marathons the most. When I have some available time, I usually use it for sleeping or going out with James (this is a perk that I enjoy the most). But I still wish I have more time to waste on reading books and whole day DVD marathons. There sure is a difference of living to make a living and living to make a life. The later is more enjoyable and far more satisfying. :) Are you with me on this?

With the continuous crisis that many of us face, I guess living to make a living is the most logical option especially if you have responsibilities to deal with. It’s a sad fact that many are facing. But on the other hand it depends on the perception of the person. This is just me talking. If you have anything to add, please do enlighten us.

Graphic Endeavors for the Day

25 05 2008

After the countless hours of writing, I needed this break. After I transfered the pictures from the digicam, I had started having fun with Photoshop. I edited the pictures of my sisters and dogs to my fancy and below are the results.

Respectively, we have here (a) Coffee and Yoda, (b) Zelma, and (c) A.K.A “Tisha”. For Coffee and Yoda, I gave the photo a Polaroid effect, for Zelma a surreal like effect and for Tisha, obviously, the scary look effect (Believe me guys, she is pretty in person).

Want to make your own graphic endeavor? Vote for the pictures you’d like to learn how to make. After the end of the week once I tally the votes, I will make a tutorial for the picture who garnered the most votes. I’ll be featuring this tutorial in my other blog, vigoureuxartiste.

So what editing technique would you like to learn? A, B or C?  To vote, just send in your comments and give me the letters or title of the photos…
