This post is delayed for I think 4 days or so. My team at KirkIT recently joined Microsoft’s web ramp-up last March 13, 2009. The event was held primarily for developers and for the aspiring developers (I’m one of them) based in Cebu. More so the event as whole was a nationwide propaganda of Microsoft’s new and upcoming toys. Below are just some of it.
- Window’s Azure – Microsoft’s cloud computing where you basically “rent” or use Microsoft’s servers and access it via web. All your data will be suspended in air via cache and gain control over it using the world wide web
- Visual Studio 2010 – This is a .NET developer’s tool that can literally save him loads of time
- Window’s Silverlight – “Rapidly create compelling rich Web applications using all the familiar features, languages and tools of the .NET framework”. I was not in this track so just make a search in Google if you are so curious about this.
- Windows 7 – This is the beta operating system that Microsoft is going to release by 2010. I have downloaded this and installed it in my computer and I really like it. It’s lighter than Vista, GUI is just fabulous, and compatibility issues are lessened as opposed to Vista. Apparently, Windows 7 was develop to answer the grievances most users had with Vista – super!
The Microsoft people were always stressing as to when these babies will be out in the market, I believe the bigger question is how much will these babies cost me. All their applications sound promising and great but as much as I would want to use Visual Studio 2010 or use the fully developed Windows 7, I am still hindered by how big the hole it will make in pocket.
