A Very Laid Back Weekend

Reading a Good Book

Reading A Good Book

Last weekend, these fingers of mine didn’t get to touch any keyboard since my computer (I have now named her Eva and I will start referring to it this way) or Eva was down and out. The power supply got busted after the countless low voltage incident in my place. James even said I was quite moody last Saturday probably because I didn’t have access to the internet that fateful day. My weekend wasn’t quite that futile though, in fact I finished rereading a book by Judith McNaught and I am now starting a new one by Robert Ludlum. I even dusted and swept my room a bit during Sunday. I even went out together with James’ family and went singing our heart’s out at Gimik. To top it all off, I volunteered to do the cooking since I had so much time in my hands.

Cellphones, desktop computers and laptops are a ubiquitous necessity now-a-days and honestly I don’t think we could go on without them. However when such case like mine happens to you, what do you think would you be doing instead of blogging or surfing the net?

Nonetheless, its good to get a break from all this techy hullabaloo. You get to appreciate the simplier things in life other than blog traffic and adsense revenue. **giggle** Things such as walking your dogs and getting licked on the face, lounging outside the house and breathing a whip of fresh air, taking long naps, talking to your grandma and not facing the monitor, read a book, take silly pictures of your sisters, talking to your mom and siblings about absolutely anything, and all the other good stuff in life that’s not part of cyberspace.

Digital Filipino Event

Some of the CBS Members

You know how much I get scared when I’m on the verge of stepping out of my comfort zone, well last night I finally did. After the several “yes I’ll be there”, finally I got to meet the CBS group in person. I don’t think I’ve mentioned in this blog that I have recently joined CBS or more formally known as Cebu Blogger’s Society. So yeah I am a member and I’ve got the shirt to prove it! Anyway, CBS is a group that basically aims to organize all bloggers in Cebu. If you’re a blogger and from Cebu – come and join us, we won’t bite!

Last night was the Digital Filipino Club event sponsored by PAGCOR. I met very interesting people at the affair where majority of the attendees were bloggers. Even though I’m an SEO for two years, I only got acquainted with local sites and groups very recently. Attending the event was a humbling experience for me because even though I have notable SEO achievements, I would have to say that I’m not at all that much of a professional blogger. I’m not into the whole hard core blogging thing since this cyberspace I have here is my place for solace and relaxation. Well, that might change in a few months time. (I’m hankering some evil plans)

The event started with a dinner. Great kick off !  **grin**  I got to meet Janet Toral of Digital Filipino Club and one of the organizers of the event. I also saw several noteworthy personals from popular local sites such as istorya and mynimo. It was really cool that all bloggers there were given the chance to introduce themselves and their blogs. Of course, I also got the chance to plug my little space here. :) It was interesting to see Kevin Rey Ray Chua for the first time since not only is he 18 but his blog, Max Mar Roxas for President, is among of the top blogs in the Philippines. Cool ei? Why wasn’t I this tech savvy when I was in college, ah I yes, was so busy wallowing in my accounting woes. Anyway, I learned a few things in the event in order to make your blog more popular and most of it was how to market yourself offline and of course constant blog hopping which I barely have the time for as of now. I also got a tip from Rodel where to host your site for free! Which is definitely great for newbie bloggers! All you have to do is register a domain name and then host it in 000WebHost.

I enjoyed being with the CBS group. They were all friendly and were all ready to help me out with my owning a domain questions. So they will be seeing more of me in meeting and events!

I’m Angry

13 10 2008

I am angry and I’m healthy. Anger is a normal emotion experienced by everyone. You got angry at some point right? Well, when you express your anger you are actually being healthy. I guess its better than trying to hide it, worrying what others might think of you and finally just swallowing a good amount of air to suppress the ravaging emotion swelling up inside you. This is totally not healthy.

Here are some satirical reasons why getting angry makes you such a healthy person.

  1. You exercise your vocal cords. When you make the volume of your voice a bit louder and the pitch higher actually exercises your vocal cords. Singers usually do the do-re-mi singing stuff, for the none singers this can totally develop your voice. Just remember when doing this, you watch out for your air control and that you don’t leave your mouth too dry from all the sharp banters. Through this, you might have the chance of actually developing your bathroom singing skills.
  2. Pale or Pinkish White. When you are fuming red, you appear as you are blushing or that you naturally have a pinkish complexion or that you have a “mistiza” blood in you.
  3. If you do resolve in throwing things you get to exercise and tighten your arm muscles.  Since I don’t do exercise,  just imagine the sport disk throwing and tennis; thats how this pretty much works. Also, when you have thrown out the old plates in your cabinet and outdated vases, you are now forced to buy the ones you heart desires for sometime.
  4. You exercise your debating skills. In confrontation, nothing beats if your as good as a lawyer when it comes to reasoning.  Debating are not always a talent you have since birth, sometimes you just have to work for it and there’s no other good chance to practice all those heartfelt arguments then when you are in a fight.
  5. When you are angry, cry as much as you want to. Crying is a good way to detoxify your body since you shed all those bad toxins out through your eyes.

The ultimate benefit of getting angry is unleashing all those fury inside you. Kidding aside, although its healthy to get angry its also healthy if you know how to control it or else you will need to enroll yourself to one of those angry management classes. I encourage you to get angry for the right reasons and not for drama’s sake. Learn to forgive and forget and you will feel so much  better.
