My Turning Point?

10 08 2008

I have never been too comfortable when talking about the money subject, James can attest to that. I saw this book in Power Books and the title is “Nice Girls don’t Get Rich”. I kidded James after I saw the book and said, “I will never get rich cause I’m so nice”. The book totally vanished from my thoughts not until James and I lounge around Cafe de France and I read about the review of the book last Friday night.

It was a wake up call for me since the review gave a quick excerpt of the common mistakes women do that has kept many of us from becoming financially independent. Below are some of the mistakes we unconsciously do:

  1. We don’t envision ourselves getting rich
  2. We are more concerned with playing our social roles in a way that others consider appropriate
  3. We don’t develop the skills needed to make wise financial decisions
  4. Choosing to remain financially illiterate
  5. Saving instead of investing

I scoured the net for an e-book and I found a lengthy excerpt of the book instead. Below is a rather interesting quote.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy,

The chance to draw back,

Always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative and creation,

There is one elementary truth

The ignorance of which kills countless ideas

And endless plans:

That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision,

Raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance,

Which no one could have dreamed would come their way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can,

Begin.

Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

Begin it now.

The book is interesting and I hope to buy the book so that I can totally change my financial perspective in life. You can read more about it here.
