Hate your boss?

8 04 2008

Do you hate your work or do you hate your boss? Survey said, that most employees don’t leave their job or the company but they leave because of their boss. To my fellow supervisors, ponder on this.

Generally these are the pains that supervisors cause to any employee

  • Supervisors don’t give them enough credit whenever its due
  • Supervisors fail to keep promises
  • Supervisors make derogatory comments about them to other employees or managers.
  • Invasion of privacy
  • Giving the “silent treatment”
  • When supervisors blame others to cover up their mistake so as to save their face.

Hate is such a strong word. But then, this is my constructive criticism that I wish to add to the list we have above from Barry Ray.

  • Fickle minded
  • No leadership skills
  • Goals aren’t supported by well constructed plans
  • The “so what, I’m the boss” mentality – This type of leadership is so obsolete

Basically, I look up to people who holds solid principles and is not basically full of oneself but rather who is naturally concerned with others welfare. I believe in 360 degree leadership. Basically this type of leadership is inculcating leader qualities in all employees (I will expound on this in my next post). I am sure, this will take any organization to greater heights. I value plans as much as I value knowledge, so naturally I don’t like being in a languid environment and so thus your employees. Make sure that you give your employees a room to grow.

Are you satisfied with your work? What do you hate about your boss? What changes do you wish to see in your boss’ leadership style?
