50 Blessings I received yesterday (1-28-2008)

29 01 2008

I had imagined writing this post with a smile. But I am currently confronted with certain circumstances in my life right now. The issues are very trivial yet desperately annoying. For one, the internet in the office isn’t fix yet and when I decided to do my work here, at home, the computer is dead slow. Frustrated at the fact that I didn’t get to finish my tracking and now I’m losing very important data for my report. Tsk tsk tsk.

Last night, I started reading the book of Bo Sanchez, “Simplify your living”, again. I felt that I have been sucking the joy out of my life right now, and before I used to delight in it. Last night’s reading left me an assignment and it was to write down 50 blessings I received yesterday. And the very persuasive part was the instruction, “Don’t stop until you reach 50″.

So here is my list.

  1. I’m with my family
  2. I enjoyed talking with my siblings
  3. Yoda went up to my room and didn’t want to come down that morning
  4. Coffee was glad to see me yesterday (man can she waggle her butt and tail)
  5. Saw Autumn
  6. Talked with James
  7. My romantic relationship is growing stronger every day
  8. Accomplished my things to do for the day
  9. Despite broke, I got to eat at “kandingan” with friends and was nibbling an orange while writing down this list
  10. I still have 50 pesos in my wallet
  11. Got a better office table
  12. Didn’t feel sick at all
  13. I’m alive
  14. Didn’t feel lazy at all
  15. Completed the 3 meals for the day (I rarely eat breakfast)
  16. Finished the LazyMask Press Release
  17. Had soap for my hankies
  18. James has been very extra thoughtful today
  19. Got to drink my coffee
  20. My room is clean
  21. Had a towelette for my runny nose
  22. Still have a good source of shower water although my biceps are starting to show
  23. Reading a book that can teach me and inspire me a lot
  24. Realized that I have a lot to thank for
  25. had a good time at the office – laughing
  26. Although my skin medicine ran out, my mom has an extra skin cream for my rashes
  27. The old 3310 of my sister is working, so both my globe and sun is working
  28. I got home where my mom and sister were both laughing hard and sharing their Bo Sanchez experience
  29. Found my lost cellphone charger
  30. I am learning a lot of things
  31. PLanty, my bonsai, is still alive although a bit thirsty (I’m quite notable for the devastation I can cause when I try to have a plant)
  32. It didn’t rain today
  33. Love my gray jacket
  34. Got home with our dinner almost ready
  35. Mama went out so there will be food for the doggies when she gets home
  36. Got to feed Spot
  37. Jonathan and Jay will treat us this Wednesday
  38. Woke up early
  39. Bathe using deep well water instead of the rain water
  40. Coffee isn’t surrounded by her poopoo
  41. Coffee was given a walk by Emily yesterday morning
  42. The price page for MK Sol is taking shape
  43. News that there will be an increase in salary (crossed-fingers)
  44. Found my old black pen
  45. Finally backed-up my files and printed the update Job descriptions out
  46. Zelma was okay after I told her I will be using the basket for my files
  47. It’s a blessing that I have so much to be thankful for
  48. I didn’t experience any fashion faux pas – wore a simple shirt matched with a pair of simple jeans
  49. Lola was in a good mood last night
  50. And I have tomorrow to be thankful for

This is my list. After making this list, I realized that majority of these things I listed, I usually take for granted. Reading the 50 items I mentioned made me realized that my life is filled with so much blessings only that I fail to recognize it since I always count what I don’t have yet. Knowing what you have and being thankful for it actually makes life more gratifying than it already is. We should take a pause once in a while and appreciate the simple things that life has to offer.

Quick thoughts for today

24 01 2008

How reliable is a woman’s intuition? A woman’s intuition often relies in gut feel. And for me to solely rely on this and reject logic, puts a woman in a weak position. Gut feelings, yes we have them and those often stem from several factors that has happened to us lately. Leaning more on the subjective rather than the objective.

Are women prone to exercise more drama than men? A striking question was slapped at my face last night when my boyfriend told me, “Don’t have I right to exhibit drama in our relationship just because I’m a man?”.

If a man, let’s say gets overly dramatic on things. Although not always, lets say once in a blue moon. Does that make him less straight?

I’m getting a bit of gender bias here, so enough with these thoughts.

———

How do you know that you’re living the life that you’re supposed to? The fact is you don’t know. I know that. But is there some kind of warning sign when you’re at the fork of the road?

———

I recently signed up for a facebook account and I am loving what I see. I love the applications. And I hope to see how many votes I get for the superlatives. I am being self-centered now.

———

Heath Ledger. Wow, he passed away. It was a big shock for me and i guess for the rest of the world. I am going to watch Batman as a tribute for the young actor.

———

Yey, Yoda now had her own bed. All thanks to Classicware who generously gave me an export over run basket.

Till my next post.  Thought, you guys should get a peek of what’s going on with my head.

Confession of a Prying Girlfriend

16 01 2008

For the couple of weeks I have been relentlessly asking for my boyfriend’s e-mail and Friendster password. I don’t know if I’ve gone from a carefree girlfriend to a needy and clingy one.

To be honest, his passwords weren’t exactly the things that I must significantly know about. Like me, he believes there are things that he can have access and there are things that only I must know. Personal privacy is a basic right and I’m not about to waive it for any guy.

Anyway, I kept on nagging him the couple of weeks since my friends have mentioned that they have access to their boyfriend’s email and Friendster account. I’m so out of the loop.

When I told my boyfriend about it, he kept on going on about privacy and stuff and how lucky the both of us are since we feel the same way about our inherent human right.

So for the couple of weeks, I relentlessly nagged him for his password in exchange for mine. To make this short, he caved in and gave me his password but told me never to open his account. He trusts me with his password and he trusts me even more that I wouldn’t dare invade his personal space.

Decided to mess with his head and said that I saw messages from his pasts and how it can be troubling at some point and how I’m okay with it anyway. He was very disappointed nonetheless. But after a few hours of giggling by myself in my pseudo-office, I told him that I didn’t really open his email nor his Friendster and have no plans of doing so unless he tells me to do so.
My point is that. Is it ever necessary for us, people in some kind of romantic relationship, to know every single detail about our partner? Is that certain invasion of privacy needed? A good point is raised: If you’ve got nothing to hide, why not take your partner out of the dark. It also shows how much you trust your significant other. I have no arguments on that topic. This link certainly gave enough justification on this topic: Is asking for my boyfriend or girlfriend’s password necessary?

Actually, there are no hard and fast rules on almost any kind of relationship. Live and let live.

Although, I don’t have any emails from a former lover lurking in my yahoo account buried under hundred Viagra spams, I prefer that no one would open and skim through my messages without me knowing or without my permission.

What’s exciting about my relationship with this special person now is that, we have kept the mystery alive. Mystery is good. However for those who thinks their boyfriends are up to no good, click through this link, it might help you.

Shifting OS

14 01 2008

I don’t know if I have expressly said it here but I work for an outsourcing company that specializes in graphics. We cover still, motion and 3d. For still, we have LazyMask, clipping path service provider. For motion graphics, we have LazyMovie, rotoscoping and chroma keying service provider. And LazyAnimation, which provides 3d architectural modeling and renderings.

We are currently crossing industries and recently we have uploaded our new website, www.opencomputingit.com. Open Computing offers Linux and Open source consulting and business process outsourcing. These are some of the services we offer.

  • Asterisk PBX and VOIP
  • Sugar – CRM – programming
  • Typo3 – CMS – programming

The onset of another business venture has caused some significant changes, especially for us in the SEO team. From Windows XP, we are now using Ubuntu. I am currently trying to get use to linux but overall, I’d give Ubuntu an 8, given that 10 is the perfect score. Why 8? I’m very familiar with Windows and the sudden shift has caused me and my team to dive into a rather unfamiliar territory. But then its not at all unfriendly and there are perks in using Linux. One would be that I can conveniently add passwords for every folder and file I have… How’s that for privacy… I also like the evolution, its counterpart for Microsoft’s Outlook.

(Updated: Feb.1)

The best thing about Linux is that it is packed with a lot of applications and the license is free. It provides a very safe environment for your computer. All your update are directly placed in your kenel wherein you can conveniently choose which update you’d like to install.

Anyway, if you’d ever need to shift your OS, we can help you…

Christmas Gift part 2

10 01 2008

What was your Christmas present for your significant other? I had my gifts in two parts. The first part, I had to settle for a bottle of perfume. Not that my significant other got some body odor to hide, he smells really good I might add. But as soon I smelled that bottle of addidas cologne for men, it quickly reminded me of him. And no wonder, he has been using the same perfume when we were still dating and during the early parts of our relationship. FYI, we don’t tell each others perfume and the other vanities to keep the mystery alive. :)

Anyway, he was about to buy the same bottle of perfume last December but he didn’t continue to do so. Just my luck ei, and somehow a stroke of fate or okay let’s get a bit cheesy, a stroke of serendipity.

To the main topic. I just finished making my Christmas present part 2. The part 2 is composed of a personalized mug and his own business card. I personally designed both and I’m very excited to print have it printed.

Business card for an architect

This is the business card I designed. I have been to have this kind of background for the card but then I have limited images from his portfolio. Luckily, he made his portfolio and I got the funky lines there.

mug design

This is the mug design. I will have this printed for the both of us. I can get really sappy when I’m looking at our pictures.

This is my part 2. His part 2 is way cooler. He did a portrait of me using pointillism. I know about this since I accidentally found the digital copy in his phone.
