Reading the blog of Leo Babauta’s “Zen Habits“, especially on his post “My morning Routine“, has inspired me to change my lazy habits and be more thankful for each morning I wake up to.
My normal morning is:
- Really wake up around 7:45 am and then groggily reach for my towel to take my morning shower.
- I dress up hurrying then I brush my teeth and then flee for work
My mornings do sound hectic and are always in-a-rush, as-matter-of fact they really are. Greeting your day this way, I realize, will always affect the rest of it and will always affect you most importantly. I start my day in procrastination and the rest of it is procrastination as well. I want to change my ways and to this I will make a vow to create my better mornings. It will be a challenge as to how long I can stick to this type of routine but then it will be challenge I am most willing to take.
My planned morning routine:
- Wake up at 5:30 am
- Drink water
- Set my goals for the day
- Exercise or meditate for 15 – 30 minutes
- Shower
- Coffee, breakfast and read a book
- At 8:30 am leave for work
Though there was a point in my life that I was extremely active, now I am mostly lazy. I have learned to accept that, hmmm, my current habit is acceptable in this day and age and that I am not the only one living with this kind of habit. Despite the very relax atmosphere I choose to create, I have also created a very stagnating routine as well. The fact that my entire routine’s core essences are ease, convenience and a dose of laziness, I am currently getting nowhere.
So now, it is time to take a stand and break away from this habit. And I believe that better mornings are a good way to start.
